Some of the most expensive real estate in Dana Point, California, is located in the small gated community of Pointe Monarch. Its ocean views and large Mediterranean estates make it highly desirable.
Point Monarch is comprised of 45 homes that were built in a curved terrace design. The step plateaus afford each home much privacy, and create a charming town setting. The terraces are separated by a private road, and pedestrians have access to trails leading to the beach. This exclusive neighborhood was built between 2004 and 2005. Living space ranges from 4,139 to 5,319 square feet, and they typically have three to five bedroom floor plans. These homes are two stories, and many overlook the ocean and the Links at Monarch Beach golf course.
Located just off the Pacific Coast Highway, this community is close to many upscale restaurants, stores, and services. The St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort & Spa is adjacent to Pointe Monarch, and the downtown areas of Dana Point and Laguna Beach are minutes away. In recent years, most homes have had extensive upgrades and remodeling.
Students in Pointe Monarch may attend one of many private schools in the area, including Broderick Montessori School, Capo Beach Christian School, and Gloria Del Lutheran Preschool. The Capistrano Unified School District offers award winning facilities like Moulton Elementary School, Marco Forster Middle School, and Dana Hills High School.
The City of Dana Point is a popular surfing destination, and is one of the few in Orange County with its own harbor. It was named after the headland which was in turn named after Richard Henry Dana, Jr. who wrote Two Years Before the Mast, describing this area as the “only romantic spot on the coast.” Dana Point is the host of many yearly events including the Dana Point Concours d’Elegance, the Festival of Whales that began in 1972, and the Tall Ships Festival which is one of the largest events on the West Coast.
